Equality in Marriage Law Symposium – Thursday 2nd December

The Equality and Human Rights Commission, LGBT Youth Scotland and the Equality Network invite you to join a specially convened symposium to discuss

EQUAL MARRIAGE

As the law stands, same sex couples in the UK can enter into civil partnerships, but marriage is not yet an option.

The law also interferes with both marriage and civil partnership rights of transgender people.

This event will investigate the perceived barriers to equal marriage and seek to produce a roadmap for legislators as to how to make equal marriage a reality, suggest areas for further consideration and make recommendations for moving forward.

Date : Thursday 2nd December 2010

Venue : Macdonald Holyrood Hotel, 81 Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh

Time : 10.00am registration, finish at 16.30.

This event will include presentations, panel and group discussions. Speakers/panellists will include Prof John Curtice, Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP, Patrick Harvie MSP, Prof Kenneth McK Norrie, Rev Sharon Ferguson (Lesbian & Gay Christian Movement), and representatives of LGBT groups working for equal marriage in Scotland.
